Eternal Cosmic Wisdom at Bargain Basement Prices

By Jerry D. Posner

The second book from the Berkshire-based motivational speaker offers an engaging combination of wisdom, humor, and practical, step-by-step instructions for positive change

Writer, speaker, and entertainer Jerry D. Posner answers the compelling question, “How do I create miracles in my life?” in his engaging new book, Eternal Cosmic Wisdom at Bargain Basement Prices (CreateSpace; 2011), written in an easy-to-read style with his trademark gentle humor.  Some miracles just take practice, he explains, as he outlines his approach to becoming more positive, productive, and happy.

Eternal Cosmic Wisdom is a “collection of practical, helpful suggestions and reminders to make life better, have more fun, get more done, love more.”  This interactive book is best read with pencil in hand — some of the chapters are in the form of a checklist, others invite the reader to write out goals, and some suggest innovative ways of preparing “to-do” and “to-feel” lists.  Eternal Cosmic Wisdom at Bargain Basement Prices even includes a playlist of songs that “make you feel happy, inspire gratitude, stir positive emotions, and put you in a good mood.”

Posner is not only an entertaining speaker, he is entertaining on the page as well.  Posner’s writing style is chatty, personal, and funny, but he is quite serious about the value of his suggestions and techniques.  He believes that positive change is possible, and he offers a series of do-able, sensible exercises that, when practiced daily, and he does mean daily, can create miracles.

Posner’s business is creating motivational and training programs to empower individuals and businesses, and his new book reflects many of the ideas he has honed and refined over 25 years in his popular talks and workshops.  Analyzing massive amounts of feedback from attendees, he concludes, “Pathways to personal growth and improvement, the stuff that works for most people, is generally uncomplicated and easy to apply.”

Posner is a practical guy who demands results. “If it doesn’t work, I’m not interested,” he says.  His refrain of “Review daily. And that means daily.” is about creating good habits, and is very down-to-earth.  And it works.  The book and his techniques are accessible, engaging, and eminently achievable; Posner’s lessons can be life-changing, in the small, sweet ways that add up to a significant difference.

In Posner’s words, “Simple daily reinforcement can catalyze miracles, help us reach our goals, improve relationships.  It makes sense.  Costs nothing.  Doesn’t take too much time.  So do it already!  Put it on your list!”

Posner practices the practical power of gratitude (his Facebook posts remind friends to celebrate Grati-Tuesday every week) and practicing, he affirms, is the key.  “Practicing strongly suggests doing something—not just once or twice but repeatedly, eventually making skills or habits—habits of behavior, habits of thinking, habits of feeling, interpretation, perception, etc.”

Posner’s techniques, and his attitude, are based in common sense. He is not averse to the value of a good cliché and embraces the kind of kitchen-table wisdom that we hear from our grandmothers.  Simple wisdom, he says, works — when we apply it. And that is the secret Posner shares in Eternal Cosmic Wisdom.  It’s the actions we take that make all the difference. When we set goals and review them daily, choose to act in a compassionate way, decide to be positive, and do these things consistently, our lives can change, Posner attests, and in a powerful way.

About the author:

Jerry Posner is an engaging speaker, writer, “motivational entertainer,” and ukulele player.  After a near-death experience in 1976, he set upon a lifelong quest to learn and practice ways to become a more positive, growth-oriented, productive, and, well, happier person.  He takes a practical, open-minded, and fun approach to self-improvement and self-mastery, sharing his stories and research with diverse (and appreciative) audiences.

Originally from New Jersey, Posner has worked as a musician, in radio (he still voices and produces the occasional radio commercial), as a stand-up comedian, in advertising, and, with his partners, published the Positive Times Journal in the 1990s.

Jerry Posner presents workshops and seminars for a wide variety of corporate clients and he’s been a popular guest lecturer at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Massachusetts, since 1993, speaking more than 1,000 times on topics such as “Ways To Create Miracles in Your Life,” “Practicing the Practical Power of Gratitude,” and “Ways To Make ‘The Butterfly Effect’ Work For You.”

Posner’s first book, Attention Late Bloomers: You’re Right On Time!, published in 2006, is available from Amazon.com.

Raised in Northern New Jersey, Posner attended Emerson College in Boston, graduating with a degree in mass communications.  He lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Lynne, Max the Labrador, and Ruby the Vizsla.
